Joint meeting to celebrate the 350th anniversary of John Ray’s Catalogue of Cambridge Plants, 1660: the first English “County Flora”, Cambridge University Library, Cambridge, UK

19-20 May 2011

The Spring meeting in 2011 will be “From Royal Gifts to Biodiversity Conservation: the history and development of menageries, zoos and aquariums”. It is a joint meeting, the co-sponsors being SHNH, The World Society of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the North of England Zoological Society (NEZS), to be held at Chester Zoo on Thursday and Friday 19-20 May 2011.

Events Programme

The Society for the History of Natural History [SHNH] has a diverse programme of events, with follow-on articles often appearing in our members' newsletter and on the website. Most SHNH meetings are open to the public as well as to members of the organisation.

Members, researchers and scientists and members of the public are also encouraged to contact the SHNH Meetings Secretary with suggestions for future events.
